The past two weeks were full of drafting and sickness, but people are starting to feel better and drafting is DONE until September! (That feels crazy to say, but I'm officially in editing and publishing mode until the end of summer.) In this week's newsletter:
I am FINISHED drafting Project Needle! This means I'm done writing the story and can move onto refining it. It's currently in the hands of my genius developmental editor, who has an impeccable eye for detail and rock solid theology, so she's sure to catch any major issues or plot holes. We're also working on trimming the story down to size. This series is supposed to be fairytale retelling NOVELLAS, which means <50,000 words each. Project Needle is currently skating a few hundred words above my cap, so we'll need to trim some unnecessary/redundant words. I found this project incredibly challenging and earned even greater respect for novella/short story writers, because packing a satisfying story into a limited word count definitely takes some skill! After my first round of edits, I'll be opening up beta reader applications. Stay tuned if you plan on signing up! Just for you, my VIP Newsletter Goblins™, a discount code on all the "Never Trust the Fae" merch from my signed bookshop! I have this darling, touristy Balgar Forest design on a sweatshirt, t-shirt, and sticker. Follow the link below or use the code "BALGAR" to get 10% off your purchase of any "Never Trust the Fae" merch! XOXO
If you have any questions, comments, prayer requests, bad puns, or good book recs, I would love to hear them! Reply to this email and I'll get back to you ASAP. Until next time,
