Hello dear friend!

There's only one more week left of homeschool for my family before summer break! (Which is WILD because it was literally snowing yesterday morning. Just Wyoming things.) In June my family plans on doing lots of fishing at the lake, in July my big kids are visiting family, in August we're going on vacation, and in September we've planned to go camping. Between all that and my current publishing schedule, I've got a LOT going on in the next few months! If I miss a newsletter or two during that time, you'll know why! What about you? Do you have plans for the summer?

In this week's newsletter:

  • work in progress updates
  • the most highlighted COTT quotes (and why #1 is utterly perfect)
  • TFC meme of the week
  • out of context quote
  • COTT is this close to 2,000
  • five star fantasy book rec

WIP UPDATES:

  • The Fralsningdor Chronicles, Book III is officially in the works! Yes, yes, I know I told you guys last week that I was trying to be patient and wait until after Project Needle publishes this fall, and I truly was doing my best! But the prospect of waiting until winter to WRITE again was making my heart hurt. As exciting as publishing season is, it doesn't feed my soul the way that weaving words and worlds always does. For my own sake, I've got to put stories on paper again! I'm currently working on the prologue, and if you've read my previous books, you know that's where the trauma dump happens lol. This one takes place with some previously seen characters from Book I, and you guys are going to be utterly outraged (but TRUST ME, it all turns out for good in the end). *cue the "they had us in the first half ngl" meme*
  • Lost King of the Pattern is with my first round of ARC readers, and another round of ARCs goes out soon! Applications close on the 31st, so make sure you sign up for a free early copy of LKOTP while you still can. Early reviews are SO helpful and will go a long way in helping me have a successful launch this summer!
  • Project Needle betas are starting to finish the story, and their feedback is so thoughtful and encouraging! They are definitely loving the cozy whimsy of this book; it's making me excited to share it with you too!

I'm currently gearing up to share Lost King of the Pattern with the world this summer, and because it's a sequel, people need to read Book I first! Today I wanted to share the READER'S TOP 10 most beloved quotes from Chosen of the Tapestry as determined by the Kindle popular highlights feature. Let's go!

10. "There was very little in this world Fi’eren craved more than being needed by this woman. And after failing her so spectacularly, he craved it even more."

9. "Things were different now. Richer and fuller, in so many ways, but also hard in a manner that climbing trees and stealing kisses had never been. Young Fran had not understood the way a mother’s heart could grow three sizes with each child, and still manage to fit inside her chest. Young Fran didn’t know the sweetness of a lover’s embrace when that lover has seen you for years at both your best and your worst. Young Fran also didn’t know the never ending weight of a parent’s responsibility, nor the endless strain of dying to oneself over and over and over again for the sake of a cleavebond."

8. "Fi’eren had soon become an accomplished silversmith in his own right, and one day while delivering a set of charmed silverware to the local abbey, he had bumped into an exquisitely beautiful half human girl, and promptly proceeded to lose his head."

7. "She smelled of linen and cinnamon and something distinctly feminine that made him hungry in a way that food could never satisfy."

6. "No, she didn’t regret her marriage or her children or their cottage on the hill… but she did miss those moments when she and Fi’eren had felt like being in love was unspeakably easy, and the only distance that was ever between them was the physical kind."

5. "And he was growing. Changing. Fighting to become better for the sake of his family and the glory of his god."

4. “Yes, she has a husband who loves her. I’ve loved her poorly in the past, but I’m learning. And if she’ll have me, I’ll love her better tomorrow, and better yet the next day. She’s a treasure, Weft, and the finest blessing the Weaver has ever given me.”

3. "A beautiful opportunity. To rebuild from the ground up a castle of silver tempered by flames and all the stronger for it. Polished with the ashes of their old mistakes and brought to a glorious shine. Standing firmly on a better rock, a truer foundation. A love that could withstand the storms."

2. "Believe it or not, he planned for your stupidity the very day he wrote you in the Pattern.”

1. "How do you woo a woman who’s already yours, but feels fragile because of what you’ve done to her?"

Number one is the most highlighted COTT quote BY FAR, and while I am surprised (that line was actually a very last-minute addition before publishing), I cannot say I am disappointed. My readers get it, guys! They see the need for stories of redemption within marriage, because in the real world, sin and brokenness are all too common. Marriage is supposed to be a picture of the love and devotion between Christ and His Church, but every one of us falls so very short of that ideal. Blessedly, through the grace of God, broken hearts don't have to stay that way and healing is possible! It's easy to root for a couple to get together when they have no baggage or painful history. But I truly believe my readers are special, in part because they do the hard thing root for broken things to be made whole!

Which of these quotes is YOUR favorite? Reply to this email and let me know.

Fran’s eyes were crusted with salt when she woke, and she kneaded them hard with the heels of her hands. The air was sticky with an overwhelming floral scent and she sneezed no less than eight times in quick succession. She pressed a hand to her aching temple when she finished. Her sinuses were stuffy and her entire face felt dry and swollen.
She cracked her eyelids open and gasped at the ceiling above her. It was a fresh, vivid green and faintly glowing as if backlit by a giant lamp. Veins ran through the lightly textured surface, and Fran realized with both wonder and horror that the canopy above her was nothing more or less than a single giant leaf.

CHOSEN OF THE TAPESTRY

✨🍄exciting COTT news🍄✨

This week I found out that Chosen of the Tapestry is this close to hitting 2,000 downloads/sales in her FIRST YEAR!!!

We’re currently at 1,989 (which is, coincidentally, the year my husband was born, and he’s the person this book is dedicated to). So only 11 books short of the big 2K!

I knew NOTHING about writing/publishing/marketing before publishing my debut novel last summer, and my launch was honestly kind of a disaster, so the fact that she’s already in the hands of almost TWO THOUSAND READERS makes me pretty emotional.

To everyone who has taken a chance on my little Christian goblin romantasy — THANK YOU!! I know your TBR is a mile long, so the fact that my little story is on it at all is such a delight. This is YOUR victory, dear friends.

And to anyone who wants to help TFC Book I reach this super exciting milestone before her 1st book birthday in August, you can order COTT at the link below. We only need 11 more sales/downloads!!! ALL formats count, so however you read, you can help out!

"It is said that Darkness is empty and whatever vanishes into its depths is lost forever. I know this better than anyone. For I have suffered here in the shadows, and there are none who might find me.”

Seventy years. Seventy years the elven prince has been lost to the darkness, assumed dead by his people and endlessly broken for a book that connects to the hidden realm of his ancestors, a land untouched by evil.

And now a light in the shadows. A chance for freedom. But those willing to help him come from the unlikeliest of worlds.

The orphan girl, yearning for a loving family, and the boy who won’t leave her side. A healer maiden given an unexpected chance for a life beyond narrowed expectations. A grieving creature flown far from home.

They all search for something and now their fates are tied to his.If their quest for life can pull him from the dark mire in which his soul drowns, then perhaps he can be saved.

Or else he will drag them all down to a fate worse than death.

The beginning of an epic saga, MOONSCRIPT is a journey of innocence, despair, and redemption.

"Undoubtedly, in the fantasy genre, H.S.J. Williams is a force to be reckoned with." Indies Today, 5-star review
