Hello dear friend!

I'm officially in both publishing mode and the last month of homeschool before summer break! Which means I'm mildly frazzled and deeply grateful. This season might be chaotic, but it's nice to see both growth as well as some light at the end of the tunnel. I hope Holy Week was edifying for you and that your springtime season is feeling fresh and lovely!

In this week's newsletter:

  • Work in Progress Updates
  • New Print Provider + LKOTP Hardback Sneak Peek
  • Bookish Meme of the Week
  • Out of Context Project Needle Quote
  • Like the Air After Rain Release Week

WIP UPDATES:

  • Lost King of the Pattern proof copies have arrived! The paperback needs some slight adjustments for the cover placement and color pallet, but the hardcover is flawless! Meanwhile, the story is being binge read by my ARC readers, and they are laughing/gasping/screaming the whole way through!
  • Project Needle is going through its second round of edits by my brilliant editor. Also, beta readers have been selected and they're getting their copies tomorrow. I have chosen some incredible team members to help me with this book; I cannot wait to see it be polished to a shine!

Good news + bad news...

Bad news is I switched print providers. Which means those GORGEOUS hardcovers with the secret second inner cover and character art dust jackets are going away. The print provider I was previously using raised their prices, and I while I don't blame other indie authors AT ALL for raising the price of their books to accommodate, I was already feeling iffy about whether working with them was a good fit for me. This unexpected price hike was just the nail in the coffin. This also means my stories will no longer be widely available — you'll still be able to get them on Amazon or my signed bookshop, but they won't be listed on B&N, Walmart, BAM, etc.

Good news is that I switched print providers! So I can now offer hardbacks for significantly cheaper! I'm also keeping the elegant marbled covers for current and future hardback editions of TFC. So if you already have COTT and want a matching set, all you need to do is remove the dust jacket from the first book.

Now, if you really truly wanted a copy of the hardbacks with the double cover design (inner cover + dust jacket) I do still have a few on hand that are available in my signed bookshop. First come, first serve!

Also, SPEAKING of those elegant marbled covers: I received proof copies of Lost King of the Pattern yesterday, and BOY OH BOY they are absolutely stunning! Here's a little sneak peek of the spines. As you can see, LKOTP is just a little bit thicker than her older sister because the action really ramps up in book II!

Kfir resolutely turned away from the inquisitive creature and noticed Rosie’s light still softly glowing from around the edges of her bedroom door. Sighing, Kfir turned the doorknob and quietly stepped inside. Sure enough, the girl was sprawled across her bed, surrounded by piles of oversized human books, each one at least as large as her entire torso. Rosie’s wild brown curls splayed out across her pillow, and her smooth tawny skin was golden in the light of her luminaire, glowing with amber crystals that cheerily lit the last page the girl read before she drifted off to sleep. Kfir stepped closer, furrowed his brow, and tilted his head to read the page. She must have finished her last book and started a new one just before sleep claimed her —
Once upon a time in an enchanted land far, far away lived a beautiful but lonely princess, it read.

Kfir snorted. More Terran faerietales. They were riddled with inaccuracies about the fae, of course, but what was even more offensive were the ridiculous stories of true love conquering all with the help of benevolent faerie godmothers. Godmothers were terrible creatures who were far from benevolent. Kfir knew that better than most.

PROJECT NEEDLE

Today I'm thrilled to share a brand new Christian historical romance with you! Like the Air After Rain comes out on Thursday, May 1st and was written by my writing-group friend, Kellyn. This is book II of The Hilton Legacy series, but it can be read as a standalone if you want to jump right in! (The first book supplies some context, but the main characters from book I are barely featured in book II.)

THE BLURB:

What if nothing’s left after the storm fades?

Aubrey Montgomery has three problems: the care of his adolescent sisters, the managing of his household, and his own loneliness. Over two years have passed since he was rejected by Cassie Hilton. Although he no longer trusts himself to love a woman properly, he could settle for an amicable partnership—if the right woman came along.

Lorelei Hilton only has one problem that she knows of: her manipulative and controlling father is arranging a marriage to a spineless boy in order to maintain the family business—and keep it out of her very determined, very female hands. But if Lorelei can’t force her way through a door, she’ll crawl in a window. To rescue herself and her sister, she sails off to England in search of a man with the gumption to stand up to her father.

After a chance meeting and an intense contract negotiation, Lorelei and Aubrey agree to a marriage of convenience. As they grow closer and struggle through the trials of their utilitarian arrangement, Aubrey is left with a question. Can the sacrament of marriage be entirely practical?

Like the Air After Rain is the second novel in The Hilton Legacy, a stand-alone trilogy featuring characters from the author’s first series, The Chronicles of Alice and Ivy.

If you have any questions, comments, prayer requests, bad puns, or good book recs, I would love to hear them! Reply to this email and I'll get back to you ASAP.
