Operation Chatterbox is out of the bag and I am going to be INSUFFERABLE

Hello, dear friend. It's Laura, author of The Fralsningdor Chronicles.

Join me for a cup of tea at my writing nook in Wyoming!

🎂🎂 Two book birthdays!

Before we get to some very exciting news, I need to celebrate a couple of special milestones this week:

Happy 2nd Birthday, Chosen of the Tapestry!

Two years ago on Sunday, Fran and Fi'eren entered the world in paper and ink. Chosen of the Tapestry was my first genuine attempt at writing a novel and is the story that started my entire "scrappy marriage romance" mission.

Happy 1st Birthday, Lost King of the Pattern!

Next Sunday Lost King of the Pattern turns one year old. Watching readers return to Fralsningdor, meet Borrethyn, and enjoy the second installment even more than the first is a treat that I never get tired of.

To everyone who has laced up their boots and traveled to Korreth with me over the past two years — thank you! Your support and enthusiasm are priceless.

If either of these books has meant something to you, the sweetest birthday gift you could give would be leaving a review on Goodreads or Amazon. Reviews help other readers find their way to Fralsnindor, and every single one makes a difference.

And now, it's time to let my tight-lipped secret out of the bag! This is the moment that at least three people have been waiting for...

🌙🦋 Operation Chatterbox title reveal

What happens when a faithful but flustered night elf cleric gets a divine message he is absolutely NOT prepared for, his long-suffering wife finally gets the last word, and the whole thing is somehow both hilarious and deeply beautiful?

You get:

Of Signs & Flutters: The Forerunner’s Tale

This is a cozy fantasy retelling of Zechariah and Elizabeth, with all the warmth, wit, and wonder their story deserves. Think unhinged sitcom meets scrappy marriage romance — all wrapped in a whimsical world of dark mystery, bright hope, and plenty of warm tea with honey.

But wait, there's more!

📜 Here’s the official blurb

Princess Ealasaid of the night elves is nearly seven hundred years old.

And she's pregnant.

After centuries of childlessness, that should be the most shocking thing to happen all year.

And it is, but... barely.

Her cleric husband, Sachairi, has returned from worshipping the Gardener unable to speak. An orphaned baby owl has decided Ealasaid is his mother. The royal court is convinced the princess and the cleric have contracted Blight poisoning. And beyond the stone towers of the night elf capital, the Gealladh Forest is slowly dying.

As Ealasaid and Sachairi navigate the undignified miracle of pregnancy without the ease of spoken communication, monsters that once lurked deep within the forest begin appearing closer to home. What's worse, the creatures look disturbingly familiar.

The Gardener clearly has a plan.

It just doesn't look anything like retirement.

Of Signs & Flutters releases on December 31, 2026!

Yes, on New Year’s Eve. Yes, during that awkward week after Christmas when time seems to stand still. Yes, it is 100% on purpose.

Why that day? Because OSAF is a book about the last moments before the old passed to make way for the new, and I am an absolute sucker for a poetic release date. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

✅️ Add Of Signs & Flutters to your Goodreads 'want to read' shelf

I get it, you're buzzing with excitement, but December 31 feels really far away.

So here's what you can do right now to both help me have a successful book launch and make sure this book doesn't get lost in your TBR:

🙂‍↔️ Now. Can we finally talk about how perfectly named Operation Chatterbox was?

For those who weren’t in on the joke: I’ve been calling this project “Operation Chatterbox” in the Gazette for a while now, and I was absolutely delighted with myself about it for two reasons.

Reason one: This is my very first dictated novel. As in, I wrote the vast majority of it by talking out loud like a lunatic who absolutely does not care what her neighbors think.

Reason two: It’s a retelling of Zechariah and Elizabeth.

You know. The priest who gets struck mute by an angel.

I know. I know. The irony is exquisite and I refuse to apologize for how smug I am about it. 😏

🤔 The wrong-est guess (that I legitimately want to write now)

In July's aesthetic/vibes email I told you guys that the best wrong guess about OSAF would get a shoutout in the title reveal. And hoooo boy, this one is a gem! 🤩

"I'm guessing the Bible story is Hannah praying for a son and then we get the scene of "Samuel being awoken by God" but it's a cuckoo clock chiming at all the wrong times when God is like YO SAMUEL WAKEY WAKEY AND so little Samuel (elf I guess from the ears??) goes to the priest guy (IN YOUR BOOK HES A CLOCKMAKER) and is like "clock is broken" and the clock maker is like THATS NOT ME that's the MAKER OF TIME CALLING YOU so anyway the clock chimes AGAIN and instead of a cuckoo bird it's that cutie little owl popping out but it's ALIVE THIS TIME. and then uh. Then Samuel goes on the cozy adventure of a lifetime um... With an owl companion named Steve. Who I guess in this case represents the Holy Spirit?? And it's wildly funny and chaotic as any Laura cheever story should be 🙂‍↕️"

Email me back and let me know which historical figure from Luke 1 you're most excited to see reimagined as a night elf!

Until next time, friend — thank you for being here, for being so long-suffering through all my mysterious, deliberately vague hints about Operation Chatterbox, and for being exactly the kind of reader who makes writing stories like this one feel like the best job in the world.

Because it really, truly is. 🫶🏻

Until next time! With feral levels of glee (and a stubborn baby owl),

💚 Laura

P.S. If you know someone who loves cozy fantasy, faith-filled stories, or just a good marriage romance with excellent comedic timing, feel free to forward this email their way. The more the merrier. Ealasaid would probably say something dry and elegant about it. Sachairi would simply nod with a deadpan expression... because that's all he can do right now. 💀
