Vibes: Immaculate. Creatures: Classified. Book Club Kit: Free. 🍄

Hello, dear friend. It's Laura, author of The Fralsningdor Chronicles.

Join me for a cup of tea at my writing nook in Wyoming!

📝 Writing updates

Operation Chatterbox is almost completely drafted, and if I don't vent some secrets, I am going to explode.

My friend, this book isn't even officially announced, and you've already been with me through a lot.

You were there when I started dictating this story like a Victorian novelist pacing her parlor. You watched me chip away at draft percentages like I was defusing a bomb. You know my MMC is nicknamed Steve because my dictation software heard his fantasy name and said absolutely not.

And today I am here to reward your loyalty with a bunch of new secrets and basically zero actual answers.

You’re welcome. 😇😅

I can't tell you the title, I can't give you the blurb, but I can show you the aesthetic/mood board, so by golly we're gonna do it!

BEHOLD:

I know, I KNOW! That was needlessly vague to the point of being almost cruel.

But I simply couldn't resist. 😂

Let's try again.

For real this time:

My friends, AREN'T THE VIBES IMMACULATE?! 🤌🏻

I'm genuinely sorry that I can't explain it all yet. But what I can tell you is this:

  • It's a cozy standalone novel
  • It's a Bible story retelling
  • It's a romantasy about a married couple (OBVIOUSLY)
  • There's a pregnancy which results in many shenanigans
  • There are creatures lurking in the forest that I will not be describing in this email because I want you to sleep tonight (you're welcome)

There is an official title. Steve has a real name. The blurb exists. The release date is set.

And in August, your inbox is going to get very interesting. 👀 (If you've been around for a while, you know I always have something exciting to share in August.)

Keep your eyes open. Tell your friends. And in the meantime — I need your wildest theories.

What is this book? What are the creatures? Who is Steve? What does the cuckoo clock mean? I want your most unhinged, most creative, most gloriously wrong guesses in my inbox. Hit reply and let’s hear 'em!

The most delightfully chaotic theory gets a shoutout in the title reveal email! You’ve been warned.

⚔️ Looking for more speculative fiction with unusual heroes?

Yes, more COTT news, you're welcome.

Chosen of the Tapestry is part of a really fun promo this month! Fantasy and sci-fi books with "chosen ones," but... maybe not the kind you'd expect.

You know. Like Fran. Who is a homeschooling, goblin mother of four with a messy marriage and magic that doesn't work right. 😅

If you love unexpected heroes (and I know you do because you're here), check out these stories to find your next un-put-down-able speculative adventure!

I can't personally vouch for every single book on this list, but participating authors are NOT submitting erotica. As a reader, I feel safe giving these stories a shot.

🍁 Will You Still Love Me In November cover reveal

Today I get to do something really special, because today I get to share the cover of Cassandra Grace's next poetry book, Will You Still Love Me in November! Cassandra writes lament poetry for the broken and suffering, and this next book is about mental illness, isolation, and faith.

Will You Still Love Me in November releases October 21, and you can pre-order the kindle ebook now!

I am easy to love
in spring and summer.
In April and June
when the sun and the rain
can sustain me.
But when the winter comes,
will you love me
without my leaves,
just bare limbs reaching for the sky,
lifted in silent, desperate prayer
that it won't stay this way forever?
From Will You Still Love Me In November by Cassandra Grace

The Blurb:

Clinically depressed with a tendency to request God let her die in her sleep at only ten years old, Cassandra Grace is no stranger to the trials of mental illness or the tension of believing in a good God in the midst of much suffering.

Will You Still Love Me In November is a poetry collection written out of Cassandra’s personal experiences with depression, anxiety, and a life-shattering schizo-affective disorder misdiagnosis, and offers an unflinching look into wrestling with one’s sanity, the burden of brokenness, the loneliness of isolation, and a desperate search for hope.

Until next time! Eternally avoiding eye contact with all my unread books,

💚 Laura
